THE WEEK THAT WAS
April 23, 2008 – by Dir. Bob Hecks
With the District Conference behind us and the District Assembly upon us (Saturday, May 3), the turn of the Rotary year began to be felt. President-elect Klink reminded incoming directors of the planning session on April 26.
It was a Club Assembly meeting so we had time to take notes of upcoming events. ‘Ang Magiting’ contained a photo-report of the Manila Bay cruise of a motor yacht around Manila Bay, courtesy PP Ed Mijares. We made another note in our diaries for May 28, when “Ocean Hunter II” will repeat the excursion. And don’t forget the next week (May 7) we have an evening meeting at the Tower Club, courtesy Pres. Joe, to celebrate RCMN’s 36th Anniversary.
DG Ato announced the presence of a Visiting Rotarian, Past District Governor Rudy Balmater from District 3400, Indonesia. DG Rudy is a Filipino from RC Jakarta Gambir. “There are only 2,000 Rotarians in Indonesia” he said. “I’m proud to be a Rotarian for 16 years.” PDG Rudy said he will be attending the Rotary Council on Legislation (that’s Rotary Rules amendments in Chicago next year.
