RY2008 Off to a Roaring Start

The first meeting under Pres. Joe Reano’s term was off to a roaring start. We haven’t seen a large number of members attending the meeting. In fact, there was only two empty chairs when the meeting started, then a few more members trekked in.

Pres. Joe surprised the members with his pink barong attire and there were lots of members to impress as the room started to fill-up. There was a number of welcome faces, like PP Boy Ampil, PP Boy Sevilla and Rtn. Gene Mateo. We also had Larry Bortles in our midst. While he now stays more often in Seattle than Manila, he makes it a point to attend our meetings while he is in town.

We were also privileged that DG Ato Magadia found time to be with his home club despite his hectic schedule.

During the President’s time, Pres. Joe, gave the club a glimpse of the projects he and the rest of the board have lined up. The main feature of his report was the drinking water project using a portable water filtering system. The filters will be provided to our community projects and to the Gawad Kalinga project in Tanay, Rizal.

If the participation of other Directors in today’s program is an indication of things to come for the Club, then we can be certain that this will be one busy and exciting year. Director Mike Clancy, took the floor after Pres Joe and walked us through the new meeting formats. The new format was seen as a refreshing innovation to club activities. Director Chito Frondoso on the other hand, reported on the details of their visit to RC Shah Alam in Malaysia and the forthcoming visit to Rotary Club of Raffles City of Singapore. He also discussed the plans and preparations being made to ensure the visit of Rotarians from our sister clubs is another memorable trip for them. President Elect Klink Ang talked about his plans to attract more members.

The meeting ended with members all enthused and raring to go!
