For most of us RCMNers, our special year starts on the evening of Friday June 29 at the District Handover at the Manila Pavilion Hotel (formerly Hilton) on UN Avenue, Manila. But for several of us, RCMN’s year has been a progress for some time. Our ‘guest’ speaker DGE Ato Magadia made it clear to us that District 3830 will flourish in RI’s “Rotary Shares” year. Pres. Porong responded by complimenting our incoming DG.
“There is leadership in being humble. I’m a little envious that I’m not President in the coming year. We hope to be able to help bring back Rotary back to its origins. The expectations, despite the Governor’s modesty, are very high.”
Membership development will be important in RY 2007/08. Sixty percent of D3830 clubs have less than the minimum 25 members. DGE Ato made it clear that in this, as all the other thrusts of RY 2007/08, “RCMN expects to comply in an exemplary way with all District requirements.”
The District Handover will use many of RCMN’s best assets. District Secretary Ric dela Torre will be the main speaker. Vic Magdaraog, District Information & Communication Technology (ICT) Officer, the chief organizer of the Handover event, and Assistant Governor Tony Chong, Public Relations and Information, will no doubt feature the improved District website www.rotary3830.org. “The Handover will be a X-ray of the clubs. District is developing a first-class database”, said DGE Ato.
The District Conference in March 2008 is being organized by PP Chet Tan, with PP Pabling Calma as Co-Chairman. “The hosting will be different”, said DGE Ato. “The host club wants to get something out of it. RCMN should come out of RY 2007/08 richer.”
“When you become Governor you have many hesitations but if you have the full support of your club it lightens your heart. Please make me a good Governor”. Said DGE Ato.
