Rising to the occasion...on demand!

“It is not true that if you ask a question, it is your problem being asked. It also does not mean if you don’t ask a question, you don’t have a problem.” was the guideline mentioned jokingly by Pres Archie about queries to our guest speaker, Dr. Tony Boy “Poor Boy” Pobre. You see, his specialty is about problems men face when ageing, specifically, ‘rising to the occasion’ or rather, failing to rise!

We had two tables full; it seems the topic piqued the interest of the members. But before that, it was mentioned that Oct 22 would be the scheduled date of the medical mission for the Aetas of Botolan. Dr. Pobre even volunteered to send vaccines for meningitis, and he also promised to send his team of medical associates PLUS medicine next time. Thanks doc! You rose to the occasion!

The good doctor then took the floor and gave tips on how to keep your youth as long as possible, some you have heard of before, some , perhaps not. They are:

• Rising to the occasion requires good blood flow so, no smoking, get exercise (don’t jog if over 50, just walk), diet, reduce your carbo (rice causes your triglycerides to rise)

• Take aspirin to thin your blood , take it before sleeping every night as blood is thickest 1am-10am….heart attack time! so NO SEX during that time (unless with your wife! ). ZZZZZZZ…..

• If your doc says your bad cholesterol (LDL) and triglycerides are high, take your statins (Lipitor, Crestor, servacitin, etc) AFTER DINNER, before you sleep. They are most effective then.

• Take your blood test every six months if you take the above medications, as your levels may have already normalized. See, we are still on blood flow, so you can rise…on your demand, not in its own time…

• Drink warm water after meals. You read this already on the internet. So the fats don’t solidify and prevent nutrients from being absorbed. See, taking ice cream before the main course first IS good.

• Drinking LOTS of water is the cheapest and simplest form of anti ageing. Removes uric acid and whatever gunk you eat. Improves skin. Neutralizes body acidity which in current thinking causes so many problems. Don’t drink distilled water. Mineral water is good. Adding baking soda (1/2 tsp.) to a glass of water before you sleep is good. Drink water as soon as you wake up to prime your engine. And no sex yet……remember…unless…

• We grew up in a world where coffee was BAD, 2 eggs a week was maximum, alcohol was WORSE. Not anymore! 5 coffees a day is good, you can eat up to 4 eggs a day, and one alcoholic drink a day is GOOD, specially wine.

• Virgin coconut oil is good (if your stomach agrees with it) as it prevents Alzheimer’s. 2 tsp every meal taken as is. Gata (coconut milk) is good if fresh, NOT if processed or powdered. Chili with gata is GOOD. Past Gov Ato is soo happy to hear this! Bicol express is back on the menu!

• Iodized salt is BAD. Causes water retention, high blood pressure. It has been simplified to the extent that only 3 out of 20+ minerals in rock salt is present. Use rock salt…it fixes high blood pressure! Unless its Manila bay sea salt…which you know is a sewer…then you have 100+ minerals of the toxic kind!

• Take Epson salts to keep your vertebra healthy. That’s your cartilage between your bones, so you don’t end up walking like Erap ( or Joe R? ) or getting a hip or knee replacement, which the doc says make him smile as because that operation costs P500k. Oh-pera , see… (Epson salt is available only at Mercury Drug Quiapo, do I get paid for advert?)

• Cell stem research and treatment…best to get it in Thailand or Singapore. This one is a game changer. It not only cures, it reverses ageing. P1m here, and it’s not as good since it does not get government funding. It’s a bit controversial, but there are spectacular cases.

So there, if you follow all that, your pipes will be clear to rise when needed….

Soo much effort! I guess our bodies are pretty much like cars, no matter if we were a new Ferrari or a BMW or whatnot THEN , they all still become an old Ferrari and BMW eventually! The abuse we heaped on it in the past catches up, and if we skimped on maintenance here and there only adds it even more. Some are better kept than others, so they can still party! The others will take more than a spit and polish to fix. It’s never too late to look under the hood to get your engine humming. If all else fails, you can call on the Doc for oh-pera…
