What a meeting with a profound Rotary spirit it was

What a meeting with a profound Rotary spirit it was. Camaraderie, fellowship and a few minutes of serious business intended to provide understanding about the intricacies of wine production and degusting.

We were few to renew again our friendship during the short time of last weeks’ meeting.

Our Guest speaker, a wine connoisseur (I am sure, it is spelled wrongly) par excellence shared with us some basic knowledge about the elixir of life –so the French would affirm about their red wines-. We ‘oldies’ would still prefer the corked bottle over the modern twist cup, but at the end, anyone gives way to a good drink. Even the old wooden barrels are giving way to stainless steel containers. Out are the traditions of wine making. Or will we see in future smaller wineries attending to sophisticated customers?

The key information I brought home is that a good wine does not have to be expensive. And the good wines are being grown in Australia, California, South Africa, etc. challenging in quality and price the traditional wine producing regions.

And do not forget that the Australian wines highlight on their labels the type of grape the wine is produced from and not the ‘confusing’ geographical region

The saying goes that one glass of red wine keeps your heart in shape (or something to that effect)…

P.S. Congratulations to our PP Augusto “Gus” Lagman for his very timely appointment to a very crucial and challenging Government position. Finally an IT expert at the Head of Comelec. Gus brings more than the required values of morality, integrity and good citizenry to this position.
