Making a Difference

The Club meeting has started with the national anthem and the invocation which was led in our national language by PDG Ato Magadia, while PP Vic Austria translated it for our fellow foreign Rotarians. After which, President Mac then gave an overview of the upcoming programs of the district and RCMN.

Last Wednesday was a very special meeting hosted by Ed Mijares, it was because of the very special guest, who was generously introduced by PP Ric Dela Torre, is the club’s very own PP Joe Reano. It was an afternoon of learning and awareness for everyone as the topic that was shared was about Biodiversity Stewardship for Economic and Environmental Rewards. It talks about the variation of life within the ecosystem and the factors that contribute to this which includes natural evolution, greed, ignorance and poverty. For further info about the guest, PP Joe, is passionate in taking care of the environment. And it might be not known to everyone that he was a graduate of Agronomy in UP way back in college.

Inculcated by his passion for the environment, PP Joe believes that everyone has a social responsibility to the community. With this inspiration, his company, Broadchem Corporation, distributor of biological products for animal health, created theirs and focused on three advocacies: Education, Livelihood and the Environment. As for their Community Livelihood Program, they are currently focusing on Brgy. Atisan in San Pablo, Laguna. As for their Economic and environmental program which started in 2004, they have created multiple cropping systems to arrest erosion, they have initiated cattle and fattening program as well as gave technical and financial support for ginger and yam production, provided education to people in the community with supplemental livelihood such as bee and organic farming and extended assistance to the community through student scholarships and computer donations.

More programs are being created for a more productive Biodiversity and business synergy.

As mentioned earlier, each one of us has its responsibility. Let us all create a possibility for a country that works.
