Our guest speaker could not be talking about a more timely and pressing matter as of crimes in cyberspace. He addressed us as business people and the knowledge we should have by using these ‘public’ communication and operations tools. Not only that we should be cautious about what and how we communicate but to be aware of the opportunities for illegal activities some people may be engaged in.
My focus is to use all this knowledge, information and attitude to ‘use’ cyberspace as a business tool and transmit this philosophy to our loved ones who are similarly exposed. Specially our children (and apos) who love to chat, listen, play and hang around the computer accompanied by their cell phones and video cameras.
WE NEED TO SAFEGUARD THEM FROM IMMINENT DANGER. Our young ones are not aware of the malicious and evil intentions of the criminals out there because they innocently just want to have ‘fun’.
Blocking websites, limiting the web-hours, scanning the facebook’ pages, etc. will not substitute the basic orientation we need to give them on how to use this modern tools and what not to do. We parents need to instill good moral values to our children. Well, here is an area we need to focus and emphasize on. For example, if we tell them not to speak nor accept ANYTHING ever from strangers near the school, at the mall, etc. we have to tell them the dangers involved and accompanying the communications through the web. Not that they may pass our credit card details to shop, that is not the only point. They may enter into conversations with people we do not know. Reveal family and habit details which can lead to ….God forbid.
So, thanks for this wake up call and let’s go into action.
The pious reader is earnestly requested to pause for a moment and say a silent prayer for Ann Vicky Magadia and family who are facing one more difficult test in their lives. God Bless them all.
