Don’t forget who we are and how we got there.
President Klink as well as Past President Marite Garrido of RC Taguig South opened the meeting. Guests included Gareth Cookson of Austin Morris, Beth Castillo of RC Taguig South and Alice Lucas President Taguig West. Mayor Freddie Tinga was the day’s guest speaker.
Chris Bellinger reminded everybody about our Cabaret night on 22nd May 2009. All proceeds will go to Operation Smile. Major sponsors included: Air France (2 return tickets to Paris) and Amanpulo resorts. We still need to sell 143 tickets. Most prizes will go to the highest bidder allowing us to collect more for Operation Smile. Members were told that there is a standard letter that we can send so members only need to supply names and addresses Betty and Moly will send out the letters.
Mayor Tinga then addressed the audience with his 10 points for peace and order including:
1. Tell the truth
2. Don’t take short cuts
3. Remain business friendly
4. Don’t do to others what you do not want them to do to you
5. Don’t waste the time given to you once elected as time flies fast DO IT NOW. Aim, shoot, fire!
6. New University opening in June 2009 but students started studying before the building was ready and will graduate in June 2009!!
7. Do not destroy mother earth Get involved in ecologically friendly projects like Taguig’s “electric trikes” at the Fort.
8. Don’t forget who we are and how we got there
Mayor Tinga also mentioned that there were two halves to Taguig at each side of the C5 He has most of the city covered by CCTV camera’s (200 to date but will be 400 soon) and he is very IT savvy having worked in HK as General Manager for an IT company before.
It was one of the best ever speeches given at RCMN and we are proud to have a Mayor with such stature.
