I must confess, I used to dread attending club assemblies…. they were often fillers for meetings when guest speakers were unavailable. While it is healthy for the club to discuss pertinent matters privately once in a while, having them too often is often just a sign of a lack of guest speakers.
Well this club assembly was totally different as it was meaningful….so many matters were discussed and it was certainly not just a filler. The items mentioned and taken up were:
1) The Governor’s cup we co-hosted last week at Villamor made P73K net for our club. Half are still collectible though. Good job just the same!
2) The Leap Congress we held with the Inner wheel of Makati North was also well received. Held at University of Makati, the new venue proved cost effective in delivering the same product at a much lesser venue cost.
3) A visit to a drug rehab site in Tagaytay for members of our Rotaract Singkamas and Sta Cruz was set up in line with the anti drug campaign planned. An anti drug themed Art contest was also proposed.
4) The merits and demerits of the DNC process were discussed by PDG Ato Magadia.
5) Gawad Kalinga Tanay might soon receive significant funding from Taiwanese Rotary clubs thanks to the efforts of Pres. Klink, Taiwanese Rotary Clubs with nowhere to spend money on, and the Taiwanese ambassador (a recent club speaker ) to the Phil. who promised to help. Good luck guys!
6) Pres. Klink seemed like a man in a hurry when he scheduled the usual turn over rites to PE Vic Austria way way ahead of time.
7) Larry Bortles announced that he finally got married to Rose. A club member offered his condolences….
8) 36th club anniversary activities. A member proposed that it would be better if we ‘repackaged’ sponsorships into ‘donations for specific causes’ in order to facilitate better revenues.
9) A renewal of our commitment to Stepping Stone was requested by Gov. Boyet Limon.
10) An out of town family trip was planned. Pres. Klink volunteered his family’s place in San Juan, Batangas.
11) Pres. Klink also announced The Manila Times’ search for Outstanding Phil. Nurses. Karl M Volunteered to help. yeah right Karl hehe
12) More rotary clubs were suggested to join us next week, when we have a significant speaker
See, a dozen items…that wasn’t too bad for a club assembly…..
