By Rtn Archie Reano and Ann Tin

Last December 13, 2008, RCMN together with the Inner Wheel Club, had their last visit for 2008 at Gawad Kalinga Ave Maria at Tanay, Rizal. The number of participants on that day was really overwhelming. More than 60 individuals shared their precious time to show how we can improve the quality of life of our meagre fellow Filipinos. Some of the Rotarians and Anns who participated and does some “dirty” work were Rtn Archie Reano and ann Tin, Rtn Vic Magdaraog, PP Donnies Alas and his son, PP Joe Reano, PE Vic Austria and ann Lot, and President Klink Ang. For the Second time, student volunteers from Manila Times College shared their strength and jolliness to accomplish the club’s main goal for that day. More than 25 Professionals from Aduana Group of Companies (owned by PE Vic Austria and Ann Lot) stretched their way to do their social responsibilities. PP Cynthia Magdaraog, PP Choi Reano, and member Liela Salgado of the vigorous Inner Wheel club with the leadership of their committed President Menchu Esteban gave some start up showcase for the 5 recipient of GK houses including. The program was hosted by the dynamic Liela Salgado.

The activity commenced with a prayer. Thereafter, Rotarians and all the other volunteers lined up to help out in gathering of soil for flooring. Successfully, with the help of Pres Klink, PE Vic and Rtn Archie’s cement-mixing skills and all the volunteers’ “bayanihan” way of transferring the heavy bucketful of soil , they were able to finish a number of houses. Additionally, PP Joe Reano and PP Donnies Alas lead the tree planting for the community. With their “strong legs and hips” they were able to plant a few trees and survived the scorching heat of the sun. After all the work has been done, everyone indulged in the bountiful feast on the table prepared by Ann Lot as well with other food contributions from the Inner Wheel Club.

2008 has come to an end but 2009 is another year to look forward for more RCMN projects.

Happy New Year!
