PRES. KLINK’S DREAM FOR THE CLUB

By: Rtn. Daniel Wiedmer
22 Oct 2008

This Club meeting was focused on internal matters: Planning the 36th Anniversary of our Rotary Club Makati North, and sharing President Klink’s Dreams for the Club.

Director Christophe updated us on the plans for the Anniversary. Three hotels were visited: Dusit, Peninsula, and Mandarin. The Mandarin appears to offer the best package. The date of the event will be Friday, May 22, 2009 from 7-12 pm. The theme will be Le Cabaret. Tickets to Rotarians and spouses will be 2,000 pesos; all others, 2,500 pesos. We are targeting 250 people, including 100 Rotarians and their spouses. The beneficiary of the event has yet to be established. The Steering Committee will be asking Rotarians to contribute door prizes and items for a silent auction, if possible, and ask their friends and businesses to contribute items for a silent auction (weekend trips to resorts, paintings, restaurants, etc…). We will need to start early with contributions. An Oriental rug auction will be held mid way during the show (the company has long experience participating in such events, – and was fantastic at the last Le Cabaret show).

Past President Pabling then reminded us of our most important duty as Rotarians: to be honest and that any President can only be as good as his Club. He asked President Klink about his Dreams for RCMN in 2008/2009. President Klink shared with us that he not only wants “Not to embarrass the Club”, as he stated at the start of his term, but his biggest dream is “To make the weekly meetings more interesting”. Given that he already invited Miss Earth to our weekly meeting, it looks like he had a good start!
