Twenty members of the Rotary Club of Makati-North were present at the 15th club meeting of President Klink’s term. Held at the Joaquin/Guerrero room of the impressively refurbished Peninsula Manila Hotel, the Rotarians jovially convened at their homebase over a sumptuous lunch consisting of Carribean black bean soup, lemongrass salmon fillet and a coconut crème brulee. RCMN is proud to note that PP Pabling Calma was responsible for the newly renovated Manila Peninsula Hotel.

The meeting officially commenced at 11 am, starting with the 2008-2009 Board of Directors meeting, which primarily discussed the anniversary fundraising event of the Club—the Cabaret show. Spearheading the gala is Dir. Chris Bellinger. The board also appointed the chairmanship of our January 28 Golf Tournament to IPP Joe Reano. Dir. Ian Alas, on the other hand, updated us on the ongoing book drive.

Moderator Rtn. Sal Lacson was the life of the meeting with his playful banter, and put the meeting in order with his cheerful disposition. With nearly a full house of 20 members present, we all welcomed Baby Rotarian Danny Rayos del Sol. PP Dieter Brueckner took care of the charging in his inimitable German way. IPP Joe Reano briefed us on his Taipei trip, and informed us that we can leverage our Sister Club in our various projects. Last on the meeting’s agenda was the forum with Mr. Vlad Reyes, the first Filipino General Manager of the Peninsula Manila Hotel.

Overall, we had a good turnout for our weekly meeting, and it was great to be back to the bullpen!
