President’s Message
The last two minutes of a basketball game is just like the ending of the Rotary year of RC Makati North. The last two minutes of the game gives the coach and the players the time to assess the situation of the game, either winning or loosing and make the final moves. If winning, coast along or do more, If barely to win do the last best offense to win the game. If loosing try to recover what can be recovered or study the mistakes committed and do necessary adjustments for the next game.
This is how I pictured my Rotary year, I being the coach of the team, my directors and members as players and past presidents as advisers and managers. I as coach of the team can honestly say that my team played well with cohesiveness and executed the game plan as it should be executed. We may have some mental lapses once in a while but not everyday is a good day for every player. Our managers gave all the support needed by the team to keep a fighting heart. All in all the league will be over in a few weeks and some games need to be played and it is time to regroup and face the last games with fervor in everyone’s heart and win the remaining games to be played.
There are still meetings to be attended, few community services to participate and few fellowships to enjoy before the final league is over. We shall have a new venue this May and we are meeting at Dusit Thani Hotel with a special flavor of food to be prepared specially for us on our initial meeting. I look forward that all available Rotarians attend this meeting not only to give the final hurrah but to boost the morale of the next coach of the team.
We shall have turnover of houses in our Gawad Kalinga on May 24 a Saturday to several families and we shall formally have a GK of RC Makati North. The water system in the GK is also the project of our club. We can all be proud that at the last two minutes of the game, we were able to score points that I feel is the winning point in the eyes of our creator. The game we play either we win or loose are dedicated to the Lord. I shall always remember to play my game right and I do not want my name to be remembered but the games we played so others maybe able to play a better game than we did.
We shall still have the last fellowship in the yacht of PP Ed Mijares and this will be the time to unwind and do some assessment of the club. This will be also the best time to know more about our members, this is the best time to show our concern to our new members, which will be the future of our club. This is the best time to know more of our families and show the new coach of the Team the kind of players he has on his team.
Again the last two minutes is near, let us win the game and if cannot be done let us assess and improve the game plan and win the game. The difference in the game we play is that either we win or loose we are champions in the eyes of the LORD.

KARL STUART McKINNON McLEAN
Born in Gibraltar , August 1, 1955 where my dad ran Shell refinery then moved with my family to Hamburg, then London , followed by Holland where I spent 8 years of my life as my father was on the main board of Shell in London.
I went to a Dutch school which was fabulous as the Dutch are the “freeist” nation in the world. As class prefect I sat on the school board with teachers and parents and my vote had the same power as the teachers.
I played a lot of soccer and earlier cricket.
