President’s Message for April 30
As the end of my term as president of RC Makati North comes nearer the more I start to appreciate the wonderful works that we have done together for our less fortunate brothers. It is so fulfilling to know that we had several students who have finished schooling and landed a good job and made a life for them. It is so small to what is needed but our club and members can be proud to claim that we made a difference to the lives of our beneficiaries.
Our LEAP Congress was a success in itself for one way or the other it has opened the minds of the attendees to better values and hopeful future ahead of them. The congress has installed in their values the love of self, family, country, and most of all, the divine creator.
We have contributed and continuously contributing to the GK to give shelter to the poorest of the poor. We have adopted the GK Ave Maria to shelter 100 families and we have also initiated and built the water system for the GK together with our Sister club from Hongkong. We have finished 24 units to be turned over to the beneficiaries and still we have 475,000 pesos to be given to the GK. This
amount was raised by our very own Bert Lingad during his wedding anniversary. Another project for the water piping system of the GK will be on the way once the matching grant between RCMN and RCRC of Singapore have been finalized.
We have given several trike for food vending to the community and has given them a lease of life to earn better and at the same time teach them the value of credit. Each beneficiary is able to earn an extra income of no less than 300 pesos daily. It looks so small but changed the life of the beneficiary tremendously.
We have also donated drinking water filter equipment to RCC for them to use in order to save and produce clean and hygienic drinking water. This is so simple as it looks but this filter is capable of giving the cleanest to the community. This will still expand to other communities and more will be benefiting from this filter.
We have done more small projects, which I feel has given hope, confidence, better values to the people we have served. I hope that our club will continue it’s humanitarian works for GOD HAS SAID, WHATEVER YOU DO TO YOUR NEIGHBOR YOU HAVE DONE TO ME. With these words I appeal to all members that we still have a long way to go, more trail to blaze, more hopes to give and life to share.

KARL STUART McKINNON McLEAN
Born in Gibraltar , August 1, 1955 where my dad ran Shell refinery then moved with my family to Hamburg, then London , followed by Holland where I spent 8 years of my life as my father was on the main board of Shell in London.
I went to a Dutch school which was fabulous as the Dutch are the “freeist” nation in the world. As class prefect I sat on the school board with teachers and parents and my vote had the same power as the teachers.
I played a lot of soccer and earlier cricket.
