We are now on the 4th month of our Rotary year and it seems that the time is fast flying and I personally am not satisfied with the changes we planned to improve attendance and return to the good enjoyable years I used to know. I want to look back when attendance was at its peak at 90% and members are so enthusiastic to join the meetings’ proceedings with their own brand of antics.
I can only do so much for the task you have given me as President of our prestigious club. Your participation counts a lot for the revitalizing the club to its old strong form. Your directors and I have improved our financial standing to a very positive position looking forward that we minimize donor fatigue among members. We have managed our funds well and that most of our projects are self-sustaining. Our contributions from our sister clubs are all remitted to us. A matching grant of 5,000.00 US dollars is ready with our sister club from Singapore. They are just waiting for our proposal to be sent to them for a water project in our GK.
We are not sitting on our task. Our own Tony Newnham has inaugurated and had the MOA of the trike bike livelihood program singed. This project will benefit 12 families in Brgy. Sta Cruz and Singkamas.
Fellow Rotarians, we need your support to finish all these projects on time and bring back the good old days. Let us enumerate what our club needs:
1. Attendance – we need you so we can have a relevant meeting. 2. Invited guest- we need your connections to help us have good speakers. 3. Participation- we need more bodies to achieve our community service obligations, although it is voluntary. We also need you in our coming family fellowship in Caliraya, Laguna. 4. New members- our club needs new dedicated members. As of now we are only 49 and we have tried new strategies to gain more members. These are just few things that we expect that you can support us. We need your talents, suggestions, to improve our club.
On Oct.11 at 7:30 am at Alabang country club, our first club tournament will start and all golfers are invited to participate. Let us revive the golf fellowship. With this, it might light up the club’s enthusiasm and have our weekly meeting exciting.
Oct 26, 6;30 pm will be the “PRESIDENTS NIGHT” when your President will prepare several European dishes to your palate’s delight. This will be the first time I will do this for the love of Rotary. Your Ann’s are invited for this fellowship.
Other activities are on calendar like the ground breaking for water project in our GK in Tanay. Family outing in Caliraya with activities set for Golf, badminton, boat rides, fishing, etc. on VP Klink’s Place.
Again I ask your support, fellow Rotarians, we do our jobs but we can do more service to our less fortunate brothers if we do it together

KARL STUART McKINNON McLEAN
Born in Gibraltar , August 1, 1955 where my dad ran Shell refinery then moved with my family to Hamburg, then London , followed by Holland where I spent 8 years of my life as my father was on the main board of Shell in London.
I went to a Dutch school which was fabulous as the Dutch are the “freeist” nation in the world. As class prefect I sat on the school board with teachers and parents and my vote had the same power as the teachers.
I played a lot of soccer and earlier cricket.
