Ang Magiting - The Official Web Site of Rotary Club Makati North

Dec. 7, 2011

My Fellow Rotarians, It’s a privilege serving you.

Two successful projects were accomplished by the Rotary club of Makati North within the last two weeks. Last November 30, while the whole country was celebrating Bonifacio Day, more than 70 Rotary clubs of District 3830 participated in the Liter of Light project. The project aims to provide solar bulb lighting to less fortunate families in 17 cities all over Metro Manila (initial). The District adopted this project to be the District’s Rotary at Work Day Project for each club. Barangay San Agustin of Malabon City was assigned to RCMN together with RCM Metro, RCM Northwest, and RCM Rockwell. With the cooperation of Barangay Captain Gary Bernardo and all the officials of the said barangay, we easily identified the beneficiaries of the project. I acknowledge my wife Tin, Director Je Arriola; the Presidents of our RCCs, Ida Rafols and Tameng Pacibe; the President of the Rotaract Club of Barangay Sta. Cruz, Michelle Rafols; the Armed Forces of the Philippines, who installed the solar bulbs to the houses of the recipients, for their commitment and support to make that day extraordinary for some families who experienced light once again after a very long time living in dark and crowded homes.

Two days ago, RCMN co-hosted the 3rd Leg of the Governor’s cup golf tournament at Ayala Greenfield Golf and Leisure club (AGGLC) in Calamba, Laguna. A total of 101 golfers, Rotarians and guests registered and enjoyed the event despite the rainy weather. Of course, I also played with my classmate Presidents and it was a good flight mixed with humor and excitement. The event wouldn’t be a success without the support of our fellow RCMN members and most especially our generous sponsors. And I’m taking this opportunity to acknowledge the following for their love and generosity: PP Pabling & Maribel Calma, PDG Ato & Vicky Magadia, St. Ambrose – PP Joe Reaño, Rush Remit – PP Toti Herbosa, Philippine Prudential Life Insurance Co. – Rtn. George Mercado, DirectWithHotel – Rtn. Emilio Zulberti, Oxford Suites – Treas. Robert Syjuco, SGV-DDI of Mr. Vic Magdaraog, Syngenta – Mr. Hector Lojo, Gallery Genesis – PDG Ernie & Chichi Salas, The Leather Collection – PP Boy Sevilla, Lacalut & Perskindol – PP Dieter Brueckner, Air21 – PP Bert Lina, Allergro Phils, Cord Chemicals, and Riviera Clay Phils.

Before we officially end this year, we still have four more special meetings left. On December 14 and 15, we will have our Grant a Christmas Wish Project for our two Barangays, and over 200 students will receive the gifts that they’ve been wanting for the Yuletide. I thank every one of us for sharing our blessings to these children and giving them a feel that Santa Claus exists, though not in the usual red and fluffy white uniform but in their ordinary clothes. This act of sharing gives them hope, that in life there are people who are willing to support and give them happiness.

On the evening of December 14 will be RCMN’s Christmas Party and you don’t want to miss this one, as our Anns are already preparing something for all of us. Lastly, on the 21st of December, it will be The Family of Rotary Day and joint Christmas party of RCMN’s RCC, Rotaract clubs and Interact clubs. I’m inviting all of you and let’s show our support to our partners in service.

My fellow Rotarians, it’s a great privilege serving you for the first six months of this rotary year and I’ll continue serving the Rotary club of Makati North to the best of my abilities and make sure that all our possibilities will turn into reality. With this, I acknowledge all of you for your greatness. Thank you.

Lastly, I acknowledge and give thanks to our secretariat, Betty and Moly, our dynamic duo, who have been very dedicated to Rotary and for working their fingers to the bone to every project.

That in all things, God may be glorified!
