RCMN with Gov Gen.
Before I become a Rotarian, I’ve been asking myself, why there are people who want to do social work. When I entered and became a member of Rotary club, I started finding some answers from these questions and validated some of my thoughts about doing things for others without expecting anything in return. Being a Rotarian for 42 months now, I learned things on how to live my life fully and how I can make a difference while I’m with this prestigious organization. I’m a President for more than 4 months, and with that short span of time, I can say that I was fully Rotarized (I think?), and I am more than willing to serve our community with the help of my fellow Rotarians from RC Makati North.
A Rotary club with two Past District Governors and 38 committed Rotarians, I can proudly say that there are no reasons for this organization to fail in meeting the objective of Rotary. Up to now, it still amazed me that many people are really into serving others above themselves. Can you imagine that there are 1.3 million people, Rotarians, all over the world working together under one vision and sharing their greatness and blessings to those who are less privileged in life. This is the main reason why we give focus in increasing our members, not only because of the RI requirement but most importantly, the dedication and contribution of each member can offer in the society.
We seem having a hard time in inviting and recruiting new members and its okay, I think aside from increasing our numbers, we should consider and pay attention also in retention. This is the same idea of PDG Ato about membership during his term (if I’m not mistaken). Let’s keep on inviting guys, and convey to others about RCMN and Rotary in general.
For the last four months, we already accomplished significant projects and we still have lots of plans in line like the housing and water program in GK Ave Maria, medical and dental mission in Botolan, Grant a Christmas wish for 202 students, where I acknowledge all of you my fellow RCMNers who pledged already for this project, and some fund raising for our incoming President elect. So, what are you waiting for, jump on, the water is fine.
Today, we have a very special guest, District 3830 Governor General Billy Villareal. And, he’s here with his team to make sure that we will achieve our goals for this rotary year. My experiences under the leadership of Gov. Billy are exhilarating. I can’t really explain the feeling but I like the fact that someone is holding me into account in doing the things that must be done. I saw what kind of devotion my governor possessed, monitoring 87 clubs in our district and making this clubs united not only for this Rotary year but even after his term. Governor Billy- I salute you.
Lastly, just a reminder that on the 5th of December, we’ll be co-hosting the 3rd Leg of Governor’s Cup and it’ll be held at Ayala Greenfields Golf and country club in Calamba, Laguna. It’s a good venue for us to invite our friends to participate or/and sponsor on this event. I’m calling all the golfers of Makati North to play and “share a swing” this Christmas season.
