Rotary is Fun!

Being a President of any organization or company is simple but not easy. And being a president of a very prestigious club, Rotary Club of Makati North, is one of the things that I will treasure for the rest of my life. I may be too young to be one, this is just my fourth year as a Rotarian, but I took this challenge because I do believe in the objective of Rotary in making this world a better place. I know that I can contribute something in my own capability to reach that objective. Honestly, when we talk about rotary, I have a very few knowledge about this organization, and I also have few reasons why I should continue in doing the things that we are doing in Rotary, but I was amazed when I realized that those few reasons are more than enough to stay and continue doing Rotary service.

One of the exciting part of being a Rotary club president is attending inductions of different clubs under our District 3830, and even clubs in other district like RC Wack Wack, which is our sister club from District 3800. You have the opportunities to meet new friends and expand your network, knowing that there are 87 clubs in D3830. For the last 3 months, I attended several inductions and last week, my wife Tin and I went to Palawan to give our support and attend the installation ceremony of RC Puerto Princesa and RC Puerto Princesa Central out of the five clubs in Palawan. More than twenty Presidents, including myself, from different clubs from our district went there to show support to the Palawan clubs. Among the clubs that we weren’t able to attend the inductions as we were on a tight schedule prepared by President Vic Acosta of RCPP, were RC Brooks Point (4 hour drive from Puerto Princesa) and two other clubs from RC Narra (2 hours from Puerto Princesa). The highlights of every induction are the fellowships, and the bonding between our groups, my co-presidents, are really amazing. This is one thing that I am very thankful about being in this position, that now, I have new friends and I have the chance to learn more about rotary and life in general.

On the other hand, we had an excellent conversation last week during our club assembly. Though there were only 12 attendees, the meeting was undeniably valuable. We discussed different issues and concerns of our club and with the presence of our PPs and most specially PDG Ato everything went perfect. Thanks Gov Ato for your commitment to this club.

It is placed that RCMN will co host together with RCP Southeast, RCP South, and RCP Multinational, the 3rd Leg of the Governor’s Cup Golf Tournament and it will be held on December 13 at Ayala Greenfields Golf Course in Calamba, Laguna. This is a good venue for our club to raise funds and also to be related to other clubs in our district. We are aiming to have at least 130 players (Rotarians and non Rotarians), I encourage all the golfers of RCMN to participate and play to this event. PDG Ato and PP ED shared that we must have a regular golf fellowship so we could be a contender once again in the district golf tourney. I learned from other clubs that Rotary Club of Makati North is one of the best Golf Club contenders in the district before and I do believe that we will be this again, soon. So get your clubs and start swinging. (Ariel and Chito, let’s start the golf fellowship!).

Furthermore, I acknowledge all of you who already pledged for our Grant a Christmas Wish Project for the 202 students from FBES main and FBESIII. I really appreciate the generosity and commitment of each and every one of you and I’m so damn proud that I’m part of this club. (Two thumbs up to RCMNers). Keep on sharing our greatness and blessings to that in need and give them hope that life is still perfect for what it is and what it is not.

Once again, I’m requesting for your continued support to our club and to all the projects that we planned to accomplish for this Rotary year. Rotary is fun, all we need to do is to grasp the main reason why we were invited and why we’re here in Rotary. I’m here and I’ll be here for the longest time.

That in all Things, God may be glorified.
