I do believe that a good partnership between a husband and a wife will make the family work. Just like in Rotary, the support of the anns will make a Rotarian stay effective in making a difference to others. Rotary club of Makati North is an all male club, but the reason behind its 39 years of existence and service to the communities were the Anns, who were very active and participative to all the projects that the club created and organized.
When the first time I learned that the wives of a rotary member was called Ann, I rapidly asked myself “Why were wives of male members lovingly called “Rotary Anns”? This designation was never one of disparagement, but rather grew out of an interesting historical occasion. The year was 1914 when San Francisco Rotarians boarded a special train to attend the Rotary Convention being held in Houston. In those days, few wives attend Rotary events, and until the train stopped in Los Angeles, the only woman aboard was Ann Brunier, the wife of Rotarian “Bru” Brunnier. From then on they started calling her “Rotary Ann” and the name began to be applied to all wives of Rotarians.
I acknowledge the Rotary Anns of RC Makati North for bringing into fellowship the families of the members of the club and for assisting RCMNers in the execution of various club and community projects and upholding the principles and aspirations of Rotary. And, I strongly believe that they meet the purpose and objectives of this prestigious organization. Thank you very much! (two thumbs up).
On the other hand, I’m inviting all of you to join us in the handover of the books, school supplies and furniture this Saturday, Sept 24 to GK Ave Maria in Tanay, under our Adopt a Day Care Center project and funded by DSG (District Simplified Grant) amounting to P25,000.00. And after the handover, there’s an AFRG (Area of Focus Resource Group) seminar that will be held in RC Makati building in Camia St. I and PP Boy Sevilla will be most pleased if you can be with us on this forum where we could learn on how we can help or on what way we could give support to our communities.
One of our club’s concerns is membership, thus, let’s introduce and share our club and Rotary to our friends and business partners and make them part of this life changing society, this prestigious Rotary club of Makati North. Additional members mean additional support for our club and to the district as well. We should invite people like the pillars of this club, who are very dedicated and committed in building effective and functional communities. Fifty (50) members by the end of June 2012 is the magic number, this is the vision of PDG Ato Magadia which I share for the future of RCMN. So, Invite! Invite! Invite!
My three months as president of RCMN is almost over, the experience is indefinable. I have new friends, a larger network and a great chance to really make a difference to others, and I acknowledge each and every one of you for the support. And I also request and ask for your continuous assistance to fulfill the objectives of our club, RC Makati North, for this Rotary year. Let’s bring back the old RCMN that we used to have, and let’s start this by attending to our weekly meetings, seminars and most especially to our projects. Thank you to debonair RCMNers.
That in all Things, God may be glorified!
