Last week’s meeting was highlighted by the classification talk of one of our baby Rotarian Rod Gothe. I barely know Rtn. Rod but from the very start when I had the chance to interact with him, I knew that he is a person that was born to help and serve others. Even having disability, no one diminished Rod’s capability to make a difference on his own way, from being a house-parent, restaurant singer and a professional radio announcer just to mention a few. I acknowledge Rod for being an advocate for people with disability, an explorer, a true blooded Rotarian and a real RCMNer. Thank you Rod and keep up the good work!

Today, we will hand over the school supplies to our 12 recipients of our Adopt-a-Scholar program coming from the two schools, FBES Main and FBES III, from our adopted communities: Brgy. Sta. Cruz and Brgy. Singkamas respectively. I would like to express my appreciation to the following: PDG Ato Magadia, PP Ric dela Torre, PP Donnies Alas, PP Boy Sevilla, IPP Mac McLean and Treas. Robert Syjuco for their love and generosity in sponsoring the top students who really needs our support to be able for them to achieve their individual goals in school and life in general. Let’s create that the next year there will be more scholars who will be part of our program, at least one student will sponsored by a RCMN member. And we’ll hand over the supplies prior the start of the next school year.

In connection with the school activities, our Rotaractors will start the tutorial program for students who had low grades for the first quarter and they will do this every Sunday. RCMN is very lucky for having a very dynamic Rotaract and Interact clubs. May they serve as an inspiration to all of us to embrace on our commitment to our community.

On September 14, another interesting meeting is in line with Dr. Tonyboy Pobre (aka Dr. Poorboy) from RC Makati San Miguel as our guest speaker. You may not be interested with his topic “Male dysfunction as they age” as this may not yet be in your vocabulary but it is good to be informed though , and I’m still inviting all of you to attend and throw all your questions and inquiries to our speaker regarding your concerns on the subject matter. Don’t miss it!

This coming Friday, September 9, let’s participate and support our joint project with our sister club from RC Wack Wack. It’s a Career Awareness Seminar that will be held in Makati Science High School at 1 o’clock in the afternoon with PP Manny Tamayo as the resource speaker. This project is on its third year already and many thanks to RCWW for their continued support in giving the students a view of what they could be in the future.

Lastly, our application for District Simplified Grant (DSG) for “Adopt a Day Care” for our Gawad Kalinga Ave Maria in Tanay, Rizal was approved. The Project includes provision of tables, chairs, other furniture, school supplies and books needed in the learning center. Congratulations my fellow RCMNers for the achievement of this milestone!

That in All Things, God may be Glorified!
