August 3, 2011

30 days of July was already gone, at the same time, 30 days of my presidency was over. And all those 30 days are all worth the weekdays, weekends and even late nights – With events everywhere, programs here and there, plus the crazy schedule. Time passes by with lightning speed just like the weather we are having recently.

Just within the month of July, I experienced presiding my first club meeting (July 6) as President, RCMN’s 39th Induction ceremony (July 13) with the attendance of our sister club from RC Raffles City headed by President Aaron Tan. I really felt the support that inspired me more to do my responsibilities as a Rotarian and I could say that it was a successful installation. More of my firsts as a President was the Launching of Feeding Program for 101 students at FBES Main (July 20), and I acknowledge all of you who showed up and shared their time to be with us, the lovely anns together with the Inner Wheel Club President Christine Marco, RCC of Brgy. Sta. Cruz with President Ida Rafols and other volunteers who’s been helping in preparing the food on a daily basis.

I’ve also attended several inductions of other rotary clubs in our district to share and learn how we could work together in some projects that could be beneficial to both clubs and to its communities.

The first fellowship for this rotary year was held last July 27 at Zuni Restaurant and we were all excited to see Sec. Bob Hecks, who’s celebrating his 75th birthday on that same day. Rtns. Ariel Rivera and Chito Frondoso committed that they‘ll be in charge of arranging our regular club golf fellowship (good job! I hope Ariel is not yet drunk when he accepted the task). Our next two fellowships will be hosted by PP Bert Lingad and RCMN’s idol Pabling Calma (cheers!).

Today, we are formally launching our Feeding Project to FBES III, and the same number of students will be part of the said program. I’m inviting all of you my fellow RCMNers to support and participate to all our projects so we’ll be related not only to each other but to our communities as well. Let’s also be active in our goal to increase our club’s membership by inviting our friends to be part of this prestigious organization.

This Rotary year will be an exciting and interesting year for all of us, so bring on interesting professional guests during our weekly meetings, revival of different projects including the Aetas in Botolan, regular golf and fellowships among the members of RCMN, and more importantly, projects partnered not only with Inner Wheel Club but with our lovely Anns.

There are more reasons for us to actively engage ourselves to this club. There are even more reasons for us to get present to our social obligations and responsibilities. And there are definitely more reasons for us not to give reasons not to practice the rotary maxims Service above Self.

I acknowledge and thank all you guys for your unending support to this club, and thanks to our secretariat (Betty, Moly and Cris) for doing a great job. Have an awesome year to the Rotary Club of Makati North (Two Thumbs Up!!).
