First…This Is It!

Today is my first day to preside the meeting for Rotary Club of Makati North as President. This is also the first time I am writing a president’s message for the weekly newsletter “Ang Magiting”. I really don’t know if it’s going to be fun creating messages on a weekly basis, but right now I am choosing it and I am sure I’ll enjoy it for a year. And it is such an honor for me to serve our beloved Club.

Anyway, I’ll share to all of you my first experience of a District Handover after more than three years of my being a Rotarian. It was held at the Mandarin Hotel last July 1 and almost all clubs under D3830 were represented including two Presidents from Palawan. It was that night when I said to myself, “This is it! It’s game time…”

I acknowledge Pres. Karl McLean, Dir. Je Arriola and my wife Tin for supporting not only me but the whole club as well. Also present during the handover as part of the dignitaries were PDG Ernie Salas, PDG Ato Magadia and Ann Vicky.

As this year, we are already lucky with some of our projects. Like what President Karl said, He left the club with funding to feed 202 students from FBES main and FBES III and this feeding program will run for 1 school year (Matching Grants). On this year, we will apply once again for a matching grant and we’ll do some fund-raising (golf, cabaret and auction) for the benefit of the next President. Aside from our feeding program, we will sustain and revive other projects like Adopt-a-Scholar Program where Treas. Robert committed already to sponsor 5 students (Thank you Idol Don’t worry guys; there are still 5 students who’ll need our sponsorship.

There will be a district trainer and membership seminar this July 16, Saturday. At the same time, there will be a Handog Kabataan, which is a joint project of the different clubs.

And for all of the PP’s, officers, directors, members, secretariat and everyone else, I am already thanking you as early as this time for giving all out support not only to me but as much with the club – may it continue until the coming rotary years. Honestly, with the support and team that we have, I am thrilled and am looking forward on what will happen with the club this rotary year under my term as President. Working hand in hand, together, we will make a difference.
