Gentlemen of RC Makati North!
Greetings gentlemen!
Happy belated Easter and I sincerely hope you all had an excellent time with your friends and family.
Easter is a time of reflection and time to get closer to God. My apo’s/ inaanak’s and I watched Passion of Christ together (they were four and six years old) and they hugged their “lolo” and watched with big eyes as I explained the importance of the event to them and how Jesus always protects and loves all.
Doug Green put on a good show for us before Easter and it appears to me that Aussie Rules was a pre runner of UFC! Ie. No rules until recently. Well, he looked great to me but he has problems with his knees at times.
We will be confirming the amount of infant formula we shall be donating to Virlanie Foundation courtesy of Pacific Health Care with whom we shall be jointly be making the donation. This will be followed up by donations to The Marianna Sisters Foundation in Molino, near Bacoor, Cavite, probably one of the poorest slums in the country.
We will need to donate mineral water (P35 per 5 gallon) to ensure the quality of the infant formula mix for the kids (0 to 3 years old) along with milk bottles for the kids (p20 each approx..). Total cost will be around P3500 for 100 bottles of water and P4000 for 200 bottles so let’s say we budget P10,000 for this exercise for the kids. My friend has P6M of infant formula to give away before October 2011.
Today’s guest Mr. Lester Harvey has many businesses and has lived and worked in the Philippines for over 30 years. One of the investors at La Souffle, owner of Zen Asia a wine distribution company specializing mainly on New Zealand, Australian and South African wines, and a wood trading business.
Today it is said that the world’s best white wines come from New Zealand mainly from the Marlborough region, but I shall let Lester the expert explain. I am just a frequent happy consumer like all of us.
The Philippine wine consumers are refining their taste in wine and no longer are Carlo Rossi, dare I say it Novelino the wines of choice. The message that a little wine a day is healthy has also moved some heavy spirit drinkers off Ginebra, Rum, and Scotch onto wine this extending their life expectancy.
I have spent many a fine lunch and evening tasting Lester’s great wines at exotic restaurants such as Marcia’s in Tagatay, Sala Bistro, Alliance Francaise, La Grotta et al and the conversation has always been stimulating to compliment the food and wines.
So guys let us sample some of Lester’s very best wines.
Mabuhay!
