Gentlemen of RC Makati North!
We had an excellent meeting last Wednesday with our “Godfather” Paing Hechanova. It was my first time to meet him and I found him to be an extremely pleasant open minded person who was a pleasure to be with.
Interestingly, he discussed the future of Rotary and like many of us he stated that Rotary must re invent itself soonest to survive and there was talk in the corridors for smaller clubs to merge and becoming stronger clubs which makes sense.
Our “Pabling Calma” Golf Cup has moved dates to 1st April 2011 and the venue will move as well to Ayala Greenfields subject to confirmation from PDG Ato Magadia.
We obviously have to inform our sponsors as well as the players soonest once confirmed.
Interestingly I have observed the absence of our new younger members, which is a great pity as they are the future of our club and add so much value both in participation in our projects as well as adding new ideas so lest all encourage them to come back on a more regular basis.
Unfortunately Miriam Quiambao is extremely busy at present and will not be able to make our meeting today, which is a shame but good for her as her career blossoms.
For those who wish to see beauty, have great wines and eat outstanding food 22nd March 2011 at Hyatt Hotel Manila. I plan to sponsor a table for our club to watch “Miss Mouton Cadet” featuring beautiful ladies vying to win a trip to Cannes Film Festival to meet the movie stars at a red carpet event in May.
The Mouton Cadet event will feature Asian/ French Fusion cuisine which is in thing in both USA and Europe and there will be a six course dinner with flowing top of the range champagne and wines by Philippe Rothschild.
Tickets will be P6,500 each of which P1,500 per ticket will go towards our club. We shall be joined by RC Makati Dasmarinas club who will co host the event. We need 8 participants or more.
On the feeding program at F Benitez we now have funding commitments for 192 children per annum ie. An 8 fold increase over last year despite us having difficulties obtaining matching grants due to our US sister clubs having prior commitments so now we are applying for WCS World Community Service projects where Rotary clubs around the world just share the project participation.
