Gentlemen of RC Makati North!
Let’s welcome back Rtn. Vince Tan from the cold shores of Vancouver and we also hope to have two of our young entrepreneurs back Dir. Kevin Prasad and Dir. PJ Jison, who have been very busy workwise or travelling which at their age is normal.
By the way George Mercado is also quite tied up and has asked us to postpone his 2012/ 2013 appointment as president by a year to 2013/ 2014 due to his commitments to the Insurance Industry bodies here where he is President.
On our Pabling Calma Cup we are well on the way to hit P200,000 with a following wind which will bail out the financial situation of our club so well done to all of us. We will all have a lot of fun and I shall turn out (at least at tee off) in my kilt and my friend/ caddy from Glasgow, Scotland will also wear a kilt so bring your camera’s.
Last week’s fellowship lunch with PP Gus Lagman was a lot of fun and now we all know the “cheating” ways of our COMELEC. What we really need is PP Gus to be in charge.
Next week we have our Valentine’s lunch at New World so bring your wives/ partners or your partners wives…oops only kidding. It should be a good event with a great speaker, our clubs “Godfather”.
As our US sister clubs have not been able to help our feeding program and we are still waiting for USEC the US Embassy funding to be approved to allow us to feed 300 children and F Benitez all year round, Heman Lam my class mate from RC HK Island East, has been able to secure some funding for us from his sister club in Japan RC of Niigata via matching grant. I will also ask RC Niigata if we can become sister clubs in the future.
Many of us are still not happy with our venue at New World as the quality of the food has gone down substantially and the price has increased but now we shall take our time to find a good long term venue and select this venue carefully.
We need some good INTERESTING speakers for March so please no lawyers (only kidding). I will invite Miriam Quiambao for one of these days and the lady from Roche who donated P650,000 worth of drugs to us during Ondoy.
Dominique Lemay founder of Virlanie Street Children Foundation will also be invited to present and whilst we are on this subject, on behalf of our club I will be receiving huge quantities of baby milk powder from Pacific Health Care which we shall donate to Dominique Lemay when he attends our club meeting.
