Gentlemen of RC Makati North!
We had an interesting meeting last Wednesday at Zuni’s which was quite well attended and the food courtesy of Dir. Kevin was great as always.
In fact I suggest that we move our New World session to Zuni’s as our attendance is down and we can get 20 people or so at Zuni’s without a problem.
Either way it appears that the New World Hotel want to put the price up in February and both New World and Manila Peninsula’s set menu’s are at best CRAP (old English word name after the inventor of the flushing toilet Harry Crapper).
So yet again we need to agree on Zuni’s or get a new venue.
At our meeting we discussed how to raise more money for the club and it was decided that a raffle with first prize being a car would not work as the tickets would have to sell at P1000 each and we would need to sell at least 1000 tickets. Not easy in the Philippines.
So our youngest member Pabling “Chickman” Calma not to be confused with Robert “Chickboy” Syjuco the older more mature version in conjunction with our PDG “Ato” Magadia decided to hold a ‘special’ event at the Marriott near the airport next week with our contributions being P10,000 per head. He will pool the money and play. If he wins we get our money back plus half the winning rest going to the club. If he loses he will still donate half of the money entered to the club. However, no MATCHING GRANT for this hahaha, RI would die of a heart attack if we tried to submit for a matching “play” grant.
PLUS our next week’s meeting will be at Marriott in the evening and PDG “Ato” has agreed to buy us all dinner at the Chinese restaurant and… we do not need to wash up afterwards. What a great deal!
We are still struggling obtaining the funding off our US “brothers” also this affect our matching grant application which does not come into effect until the US clubs submit their funds. As an alternative as I mentioned last week Betty and I have submitted for funds to the US Embassy under their USEC program, which will co fund existing agreed upon charities that are already up and running that improves the livelihood of people in particular children.
Please remember to donate P500 to P1000 to purchase the frames of the glasses we donated to the children supplied already by Dra. Diane Chua who sponsored her time and the lenses. The frames she has also subsidized as they are worth substantially more than the P150 each we are paying. Total needed is P7650.
Last but most important, we NEED NEW MEMBERS. So we will all get a target of one member each to sign up before end April 2011 Salamat po.
