Gentlemen of RC Makati North!
We have so far obtained commitment of P10,000 for supporting the boy scouts movement at F Benitez (200 scouts) unlike last year when we received P30,000 (600 scouts) but I guess times are hard and collections for all parties are becoming more and more difficult in the Philippines.
PP Klink Ang successfully hosted a tour of the Manila Times facilities for 19 members of our Rotaractors last Saturday which all enjoyed. He was accompanied by PP Tony Chong and Dir. Archie Reano.
This Friday, 8th October 2010 at Makati Coliseum there will be a Oktober Beer fest on behalf or Rotary at only P350 per head drink eat all you can and all Rotarians are welcome. Some clubs are sending 20 members.
We successfully completed the Anti Dengue spraying of our two recommended zones in East Rembo and Brgy. Singkamas and I shall supply photo’s of the event at a later date.
We have ordered 1653 books to enhance the three library projects we are working with ie. F Benitez, Brgy. Singkamas/ Santa Cruz, and East Rembo all in Makati ie. 551 books each. In future book prices have gone up to P5 each.
At one of our next reading sessions the PBA have now officially confirmed they will send two PBA players to attend and help read to the kids in English. As soon as we know who the players will be I will let you all know.
Gentlemen please push our new membership issue as we need new blood to bring the club forward to a new dimension. I have seen so many clubs involved in so many new projects and clubs who have signed over 15 new members in a single year. These are clubs not at our level so we should be signing up 20 plus new members as we are the number one club in 3830.
On doing business in our country with government this has become a little bit more open and the asking percentages that used to be between 40 and 300% mark ups in government seemed to have come down to the 30% level which as a foreigner I still find unacceptable but it’s going the right way.
Next week we have our reading session at Barangay Singkamas and all members are welcome to attend. We must look at structuring the readers subject to their ages and reading competence so we may be able to group them thus easier to teach.
We all need to get together to rebuild this nation, our nation, into a great nation which it deserves to be and get on with business and disregard the pessimists and move forward. We are one of the strongest mining, agricultural and people services countries in the world. We have gifted students but no teachers so we must become the teachers to assert ourselves and move our country forward and become strength to reckon with.
Mabuhay Philippines.
