Ang Magiting - The Official Web Site of Rotary Club Makati North

Greetings proud Rotarians of the prestigious RCMN:

Continuing Disaster Relief Operations. RCMN had recently received two significant correspondence related to providing possible aid to disaster victims brought on by recent typhoons in the Philippines. I thought I should issue the letter to solicit ideas from our club members on how to maximize RCMN’s further planned disaster relief operations and/or in response to the letters as shown below:

1. Letter dated Oct. 18 from our sister club RC Raffles City c/o Pres. Steven Teng:

Hi Pres Vic, Joe & Ric..

Reference to the recent floods in & around Manila, our Rotaractors from Ngee Ann Polytechnic would like to offer their assistance during their school holidays in Dec 2009. Can you please organize for them the logistics during their stay. They will pay their own flights, accommodation and meals, but you may wish to consider sponsoring transportation in Manila.

Below email from Brian Tan, RCRC New Generation Director on this matter. I’ll ask Brian and Chris Lee, RCRC Int’l Service Director to contact & liaise with you all directly.

Thanks & Regards,

Steven Teng

President 2009/2010, RC Raffles City

2. Letter received Oct. 19 and coursed through PP Joe Reano, appealing for assistance for typhoon victims from a community in Benguet

Dear Sir Joe,

Attached herewith is a brief profile and situation report of Brgy Ambassador, Tublay, Benguet as relayed by the barangay captain, Mr Jun Daguioa.

One of their difficulties being faced is the downloading of aid from the provincial and municipal coordinating centers, and transfer of relief goods from the barangay to sitios which is obstructed by many landslides.

As of now sir, the barangay is in need of essential supplies (included in the attached file) and my uncle asked me to voice out their concern to humanitarian groups for his behalf, and so, i thought of linking them to your organization, the Rotary Club of Makati-North.

Relief assistance and aid in whatever form will surely be instrumental in the alleviation of their plight and uplifting of their morale.

Thanks sir, and God bless.

Yours truly,
Erick

Now —- In my response to Pres. Steven Teng, I told him that RCMN will discuss his proposal upon my return to Manila. I have not yet spoken with PP Joe about the other requestor (Erick) and we will respond to him also. If you have any comments, we could start the discussions by e-mail (or at today’s club meeting.)

RCMN Projects, RY 2009-2010. In my request for members to settle their club dues, I am also inclined to include a partial list of ongoing club projects —- funded solely by RCMN or with assistance from sister clubs and other partner organizations (i.e sister clubs, IWCM, one-time donors, sponsors, etc.) —- to show our members how prompt and timely payment of club dues is critical to sustain various RCMN’s year-round programs. The table does not show other club activities such as co-hosting with other clubs within D3830, other special activities (e.g. disaster relief operations, L.E.A.P. Congress, this year’s club hosting of TRF Testimonial Dinner, etc.) Brgy. Sta. Cruz/ Brgy. Singkamas/ Benitez Elem. Sch., Main Benitez Elem. Sch., III

Oct. 28. I should be back next week for the October 28 club meeting. Once again, I thank PE Mac for covering for me in my absence. Regarding my planned visit to RC Sacramento, I have yet to receive a response from Pres. Beverly Brautigam who failed yet to acknowledge my two previous e-mails. (Earlier, I had written Pres. Beverly what would have been the purpose of my visit.)

rcmn.org. We also thank Dir. Vic Magdaraog for his work with our website and our request for volunteers from the club to assist him still stands. Our club info in our website is two years old and needs to be updated also. Our website is an easy and convenient reference tool for club info and, obviously, its currency is important.

TRF Testimonial Dinner. To remind all —- we have three confirmed Paul Harris Fellows (PHF) and one major donor (PP Pabling Calma.) I recall we have candidates for sustaining PHF ($100.) It’s not too late to join any of the above.

And what have you done as a Rotarian and for RCMN lately?
