Ang Magiting - The Official Web Site of Rotary Club Makati North

GreetingsProud Rotarians of the prestigious RCMN

Once again, members of RC Makati North responded as a TEAM to calls for action to provide assistance for flood victims in the aftermath of typhoon Ondoy. Following the discussions in last Wednesday’s club meeting —- club members, support staff, Rotaractors, RCC reps, and other volunteers procured, sorted, and bagged critical items (rice, canned food, water, soap, matches, etc.) then distributed the food packs to flood victims in Bagong Silangan East, Pateros and Ususan, Taguig last Sunday. RCMN members were joined by District Gov. Sid and SVP Ads Rivera, designated District disaster coordinator for the area.

LAST SUNDAY’S RELIEF OPERATION WILL NOT BE THE LAST FOR THE CLUB. A number of our sister clubs communicated their own concerns and their wish to help. RC Raffles City had pledged Singapore$1,000 for relief goods c/o Pres. Steven Teng. We are in constant touch with Pres. Norman Lee/RCHKIE, Pres. Jani Wahab/ RCShah Alam, and Pres. Benito Miranda/RC Historic Filipinotown (L.A.) who are making their own assessments on how to assist our club with their available resources.

We thank RC Makati (c/o SVP Felix Amparo) for providing 150 extra food packs last Sunday. We also take pride with our very own PP Ric de la Torre who was recently designated by DG Sid as overall Chair for the District’s Disaster Relief Program.

To club members who were not able to make it last Sunday, we are well aware of the response, assistance and/or other action you have extended in your own way and initiative to those in need. We will see you next time.

Governor’s Visit. We are honored with the coming of District Governor Sid Garcia and certain members of his team to this week’s club meeting. Let us show our guests that RC Makati North remains an able and leading club that could be depended upon and provide a worthy example for other District clubs to emulate.

“Better Vision for a Brighter Future.” We signed the memorandum of agreement (MOA) with school officials of F. Benitez III in Bgy. Singkamas yesterday, Tuesday, just before the start of the Teacher’s Training Seminar (on vision pre-screening of pupils) conducted by opthalmologist Dr.Mervyn Sison. I signed on behalf of PP Donnies Alas, our designated chair for the project and who could not make it to yesterday’s signing. Dir. Ian Alas attended and stayed on during the pre-screen training. We will complete similar MOA signing for FBES Main on Monday, Oct. 12.
