Even before I became a Rotarian, I’m already aware of some activities of RCMN and its Inner Wheel Club. I always join my mom (Ann Choi) on their livelihood programs at Brgy. Singkamas and Brgy. Santa Cruz, where FBES is located. I went to FBES to be part in the launching of feeding program of Pres. Klink. Upon entering the school, a group of students caught my attention, those students where the recipients of the program. While walking towards these students, I saw the principal of FBES with Dir. Bob Hecks and Pres. Klink. After we were introduced, I went to the tables and talked to the students. I met Angelou (6yrs old), Michelle (6yrs old), Kevin (9yrs old) and John (8yrs old), they’re all in grade 1. My curiosity pushed me to ask Kevin and John the reason why they are still in the first grade where supposedly their age must be in the third grade already. The two boys answered me with a happy tone, seems that everything is ok. I also asked them what they want to be when they grow up, once again they replied with excitement and full of hopes, I just told them to study well so they can achieve their dreams. I was touched with the stories of these students, the reason that some of them were forced to stop going to school because of financial problems. “What can I do” was the question that popped up in my mind.
On the other tables, I saw IPDG Ato Magadia with IWCPI National Pres. Vicky, PP Tony Chong, Dir. Vic Austria doing the same thing, attending to the students, sharing their thoughts with those young minds. Just before the program started, I saw pres Klink talking to the students like those children were his. You can see in his eyes that he really cares for this community. I shared with Klink the stories of Kevin and John, and with a very humble voice he said “oo nga eh”. He knew that RCMN could do more to improve the quality of lives to our adopted Barangay. The Principal introduced us and our club to the students. Pres. Klink reminded the students during his speech that they must not forget that RCMN is always here to love, support and help them. We distributed the meals to the students, Tony and Vic were very excited doing our roles, serving the children. Pres Klink was so energetic giving jelly ace to the students for dessert. Everyone was satisfied and appreciative. While the students were going back to their respective classes, we went to FBES model house to impart the food that they prepared. On our table, while eating, there were some suggestions coming from IPDG Ato, PP Tony Chong and Dir Vic Austria on how to raise funds with Rotary merchandise. Pres. Klink was on the other table with our partners in Brgy. Santa Cruz. The Launching of the feeding program was very successful. Thanks for the support of IPDG Ato and pres. Vicky and to the leadership of President Klink Ang “making dreams real”.

Dear Fellow RCMNers,
Our members know that the Philippines is now on Christmas mode. Given that the holiday season has already started, I hope it’s not presumptuous of me to ask for a Yuletide present, in behalf of Makati North of course. That is, I’m asking for each member to recruit or reactivate just one member.
But first, allow me to express my gratitude to those who have invited prospective members to attend previous meetings. Share with us your feedback – particularly the resistance for signing up – so that we may address concerns and prepare a course of action. And please, invite your friends to a weekly meeting or an activity again.
