The new President RY 2011/12 of the Rotary Club of Wack Wack, Josephine (Jo) Vigden has strong connections with the Manila Polo Club. She does not look like an equestrienne except on the front cover of RCWW’s Souvenir Programme 2011 where the photo shows her confidently mounted on a fine steed, ready to take to the polo field. She is the second lady President of RCWW in three years, replacing Jun Padre (2010/11) and Gina Roxas (2009/10). The 2011 induction ceremonies, held last Monday evening June 27 at the Polo Club, were attended by six RCMNers: Pres. Mac, PE Archie, IPP Vic Austria, PP Klink Ang, Bob Hecks and Danny Rayos del Sol, who was instrumental in bringing the two clubs together two years ago. RCMN appeared to be the only Sister Club of RCWW attending the induction.
RC Wack Wack meets on Friday evenings at Club Filipino in San Juan. The club has just started its 25th year and has forty members. It strives to sustain membership by keeping the members informed on Rotary matters by active involvement in District 3800’s activities and community outreach projects similar to ours.
The main difference between our two clubs is, of course, that RCWW has both men and women members.
Main differences of RC Wack-Wack from RCMN:
PE Archie signed the Sister Club renewal agreement with Pres. Jo Vigden. The agreement specifies that:
a. We will exchange information regarding club activities and business opportunities …. by means of club publications etc.
b. Encourage club-to-club visitations among members.
c. Extend to visiting members and/or families assistance etc when they visit the reciprocal club.
d. Communicate any club activity of mutual interest to both parties.
RC Wack Wack are a very friendly lot. Visit them at Club Filipino any Friday evening.
