Feb. 11-12, 2011
“If you fail to plan, you plan to fail”, these are the words that DGE Ismael “Billy” Villareal shared with his PE’s last February 12 during the PETS 2011 (President-Elect Training Seminar) at Summit Ridge Hotel, Tagaytay City. The event was hosted by Rotary Club of Paranaque Southeast lead by their president and also the chairman of the event, Marietta Ramos. The two-day seminar started last February 11 at exactly 8am with a registration and followed with a group pictorial, with President-Elects wearing their Filipiniana and Barongs. Out of 85 clubs under D3830, 74 were present, 5 were absent and 5 clubs still don’t have their PE’s as of that day.
Prior the programme proper, PE Archie met AG Mon Puno, who will be in charge of cluster 6 where RCMN is part of together with RC Makati Northwest, RC Makati Metro and RC Makati Rockwell. After the group pictorial, individual photo session with DGE Ismael Villareal happened. At the Plenary, DGE Billy call the meeting to order and on that session, PE Archie met the whole team of the governor, including PP Angelito Colona, District Secretary and PDG Guiller Tumangan, the District Trainer. There were three rooms for the workshops, and RCMN were assigned at the blue room where they discussed the first topic about “working with your club and district Leaders” which was lead by DGN Suzanne Sta. Maria. After the first session all the PEs went back to the plenary for a lunch break. And the afternoon plenary session started with the introduction of guest speaker, Past RI Director Rafael Hechanova who talked about Leadership in Rotary. The PEs carries the inspiring message of Past RI dir Hechanova on their way back to their respective room assignments for the workshops. Club Administration, Role and Responsibilities, The Rotary Foundation and Membership were the topic for the afternoon session. The PEs had the chance to take a little rest and prepare for the Fellowship dinner wearing their Rock and Roll costumes. A music of 60s highlighted the night with all PEs having a great fellowship where new friendship and partnership were created.
To start of the Second Day, the whole district was invited to take part in the first activity which was Jogging/Walking, but of course, don’t expect the whole group to be there. The topics for the morning session included Effective Service Projects, Public Relations, Goal Setting and one of the most interesting was the Matching Grant and Simplified Grant Workshop. During the Afternoon Session of the second day, many of the PEs was confronted with DGE Billy Villareal’s military style of leadership, simple and concrete. Governor Ed Alvarez also gave his message to D3830 PEs. The PETS ended well with graduation ceremony, a group Photo session and with a farewell song sung by PE Sonny Tambunting of RC Makati. PETS 2011 were very successful and you can see that new possibilities were created among the PEs of District 3830 and standing with the theme “Reach within to Embrace Humanity”.
