More than a hundred youngsters attended the second free job fair on Saturday organized by the Rotary Club of Makati North (RCMN) along with its partners The Manila Times, online placement firm Jobs.DB, Loyola Heights Barangay Chairman Cesar Marquez, and others.
Also, some 50 companies attended the job fair, which was hosted by Barangay Loyola Heights at its covered basketball court. Most of the participating companies were invited by Jobs.DB. Two companies were invited by Past President Porong Herrera, and Rotarian Ariel Rivera brought along his manpower firm. (Ariel, who attended the job fair, promised that he will be active in the club again soon.) Porong’s family was also there, including Ann Tina and their two daughters.
Two months ago, RCMN organized its first free job fair in Muntinlupa City in partnership with the Jesus the Good Shepherd Church, whose members include former Mayor Jaime Fresnedi. They had told RCMN that they were keen on hosting another job fair in the future.

The job fair project is the brainchild of Past Presidents Herrera and Dante “Klink” Ang II, both of whom believe that helping people find decent employment is a crucial step to fighting poverty in the country. Their long-term aim is to set up a national placement program not only to help young people find jobs but also to provide skills-matching services for companies looking for workers.
The two job fairs have been instructional, and with the lessons learned from them, hopefully RCMN and its partners can organize more frequent, regular activities next year, Dante said.
Porong and Dante wish to express their thanks to all those who made the job fair possible, including Barangay Chairman Marquez, who invited youngsters from four barangay to attend on Saturday. He also distributed flyers, which were printed by The Times. Appreciation should also go to Moly Almenario and the staff of The Times, who manned the event.
