![]() | Last Friday, Oct. 6, we successfully launched our 2nd feeding program at the F. Benetiz Elementary School III in Brgy. Singkamas. A Total of 140 Grade 1 pupils were the main beneficiaries of the said program. As requested by its school principal Dra. Evelyn Bolivar, we will try to look for additional funding to accommodate the remaining 47 grade 1 pupils. |
I would like to thank the following for their participation in the launching, namely: VP Joe Reano, Dirs. Jimmy Roa, Gene Mateo and Bob Hecks, Treas. Ian Alas, Ann Daisy dela Torre, and my Ann Tina. It always feel good to see the happy faces of these children whenever you serve them their meals. They lighten your spirit.
Today, we will have the signing of the memoradum of agreement with Gawad Kalinga Ave Maria. As previously announced, PP Bert Lingad personally arranged that section with 48 houses to be named as the Rotary Club of Makati North GK Village. May I reiterate my request to all RCMN members to please make an effort to contribute one GK house for our village. This may yours or a solicited one. Some of us may be able to solicit more than one. This will allow us to finish the 48 houses soonest.
Next week (October 18) will be a joint meeting with RC Makati Ayala and RC Makati Forbes Park. Our club will be hosting it and your attendance is very much highly appreciated. Atty. Rene Soriano of ECOP, who was invited by PP Chet Tan, will be our special guest of honor and speaker.
On November 8, we will have our “Employers-Employees Day” as we celebrate the Vocational Service month this October. Our guest speaker PP Marge Lamberte, who is only available on the said date, will expound on the topic: “Ethical Issues and the Four Way Test in the Workplace”. So, don’t forget to invite your secretaries, executive assistants, staff and others to this meeting.
Lastly, to our golfing RCMN members, the Inner Wheel Club of Makati North, our partners in service, will have its annual golf torunament on November 16 at the Ayala Greenfields Golf Course. Proceeds from this tournament will be used as seed money for our joint project – the LEAP Congress. The youth congress will be held on January 26, 2007. Let us all support this project.

KARL STUART McKINNON McLEAN
Born in Gibraltar , August 1, 1955 where my dad ran Shell refinery then moved with my family to Hamburg, then London , followed by Holland where I spent 8 years of my life as my father was on the main board of Shell in London.
I went to a Dutch school which was fabulous as the Dutch are the “freeist” nation in the world. As class prefect I sat on the school board with teachers and parents and my vote had the same power as the teachers.
I played a lot of soccer and earlier cricket.
