The Week That Was – May 23, 2007
By: PP Dieter Brueckner
Let us pause for a second and pray for every RCMNer who we are aware is suffering of an impaired health condition and let’s pray for his speedy and complete recovery. This we ask in the name of our Lord and our Mother Mary, Help of Christians. AMEN
Again, let me appeal to all RCMNers who receive this Ang Magiting via personal courier to attend our weekly meetings. If our un-official and quick count was right, only 17 members (out of 50) attended last meeting.
I have a dream for 2010- “Gus Lagman”
The good news are: The May 14 election process showed that the entire world, that the Philippine population continues to thrive in a democratic process.
The bad news are: The peak of the iceberg shows an ongoing and strengthened democratic process. The huge and effective electoral machineries from Government as well as from the Opposition continue to operate under cover of…
Some time ago, I read in the newspaper, that some journalist was taking about 114 family clans who are dominating most of the political and economical activities in the Philippines. No wonder, that those groups wish to perpetuate their grip on power and influence as long as possible. And this is probably the root cause of so many complaints.
Well, I believe, it’s not much different as in other countries. The approach and machinery may be somewhat different, but the results seem to be favoring those who have money, power and influences.
What we should take home is that thank GOD we have very honest Filipinos and patriots who are working very, very hard for institutionalizing a democratic election process. The seed is planted. Let’s nurture it and let it multiply among us. This is the action requested from each one of us. Got it?
Thanks PP Gus for showing us exemplary civic courage and guts.

KARL STUART McKINNON McLEAN
Born in Gibraltar , August 1, 1955 where my dad ran Shell refinery then moved with my family to Hamburg, then London , followed by Holland where I spent 8 years of my life as my father was on the main board of Shell in London.
I went to a Dutch school which was fabulous as the Dutch are the “freeist” nation in the world. As class prefect I sat on the school board with teachers and parents and my vote had the same power as the teachers.
I played a lot of soccer and earlier cricket.
