It is once again a special weekly meeting as RCMN spend it with their lovely Anns over lunch at The Brasserie on Sept 21. Good food, homey ambience, presence of Rotarians and Anns, plus the discussion made the afternoon perfect over perfect!

To start off, wonderful Ann Michelle Washington lead the soulful invocation followed by the national anthem which was lead by ever vigorous, Ann Tonie Lingad. The afternoon’s moderator was the sophisticated and chic, Ann Cora Tan – who, together with PP Ric Dela Torre, in the absence of Robert Syjuco, took the privilege of blowing the birthday candle as celebrators for September.

For the President’s time, dashing debonair, President Archie, took the floor to discuss the activities to close off September such as the turnover ceremony of the school supplies to Sibol Day Care in GK Ave Maria in the morning and AFR seminar in the afternoon to be attended by the President himself and PP Boy Sevilla. The president also gave an overview of the October schedule which includes the Botolan Outreach mission that is a joint project with RC Makati Dasmarinas where Doc “PoorBoy” Pobre will donate vaccines for meningococcemia.

He then encouraged his team to identify all the support they could contribute for this initiative. Something to look forward to is the meeting on October 5, as the guest speaker will talk about “stem cell technology” and other related concerns. On another note, President Archie also mentioned about bringing back the glory of RCMN on the upcoming golf tournament on October 7 where 8 Rotarians will represent the club and he is creating that RCMN will get the championship this time. Go Team! Further into the schedule, November 18 will be the next golf tournament to be hosted by RCMN.

In relation to the ongoing livelihood project of RCC lead by Ida Rafols, they brought an assortment of delectable pinoy food items such as laing, bicol express, ginisang santol and bagoong which definitely was a hit among the Anns and Rotarians.

On to the afternoon topic, Ann Daisy dela Torre made a warm welcome and introduction to the week’s guest speaker, Dr. Yanee Vasquez, whom was described as the woman of good looks and substance. Doc Yanee not only nourishes her physical beauty but also gives much importance to her mental and spiritual health through yoga and meditation. She leads Aesthetic Science, a clinic for cosmetic dermatology and plastic surgery. Her team is composed of medical professionals, doctors, nurses with years of experience in the industry who supervises all treatments and services they are offering which includes but are not limited to facials, aesthetic surgeries and even Reiki Healing. Reiki balances the energy center on our body – healing starts with mental, emotional and spiritual state, says Doc Yanee.

It was an hour full of beauty and wellness tips as RCMNs guest speaker for the week, Doc Yanee, freely engaged everyone to an informative conversation. The discussion which drew interest from the audience’s curious questions ranges from basic beauty steps to skin lightening and even hormones. And basic skin care regimen taken from the experts is to cleanse tone, moisturize and protect by applying and re-applying sun block as often as needed even if it’s cloudy. Just so you know, Asian skin is prone to melasma, “which is a dark skin discoloration which appears on sun exposed areas of the face (Melasma, PubMed Health)”. To add to the beauty tips, for that celebrity glow, a good side effect of glutathione, which is skin lightening, when taken with vitamin C can help you achieve that. But the best advice Doc Yanee gave away is the cheapest means to take care of the skin, which is to avoid the sun and put on sun block regularly. As a take away, Doc Yanee and her companions gave gift certificates and Kojic soap to the Ann’s.
