Coming from two weeks of non-stop raining, the sight of 101 smiling young faces giving you a cheerful “good morning visitor” greeting was certainly a big boost. The venue was the F. Benitez Elementary School III, Brgy. Singkamas, Makati City, where the second launching of the “Feed A Child, Build A Nation” Feeding Program MG#74848 was held last August 3.

This is being made possible with the club’s application of a matching grant which was filed and approved last Rotary year and the implementation will be for this school year from July 2011 to March 2012 for two schools. This matching grant is in partnership with the Rotary Club of Hongkong Island East D3450 and Rotary Club of Niigita D2560 Japan.

As in the past, the day started with invocation and singing of the national anthem. School Principal Dr. Jonard Pablo gave his welcome remarks and he also presented Joshua Padua, who was awarded a bronze medal in the recently concluded international (or Asian?) Mathematics contest held in Singapore. Mrs. Tameng Pacibe, president of RCC Brgy. Singkamas introduced the visiting Rotarians and Anns.

In his message, Pres. Archie Reaño once again thanked the school for the opportunity given so that the club can served the school, especially the 101 beneficiaries. He reminded the children to be thankful for the help extended to them and used it as an opportunity to study hard so that they reach their dream. IWCMN Past President Daisy dela Torre, speaking on behalf of IWCMN Pres. Christine Marco, also encouraged them to eat well and study hard. The food was prepared by RCC members and served by Rotarians, Anns and volunteers led by Pres. Archie Reaño, IPP Mac McLean, PP Donnies Alas, and PP Boy Sevilla.

Other participants included partners-in-service IWCMN past presidents Daisy dela Torre, Choi Reaño; Rotary Community Corps Brgy. Singkamas Tameng Pacibe, Malou Tanglao, Lydia Abalos, Melba Hernandez; Rotary Community Corps Brgy. Sta Cruz Ida Rafols, Emma Estrella, Vilma Bermillo and Ning Sibayan. After the program, a sumptuous lunch was shared by all the guests, teachers and volunteers.
