PRO-PHILIPPINES, PRO-POOR, & PRO-ENVIRONMENT – These are what Gandang Kalikasan’s core principles are. With guest speaker, who was introduced by PP Vic, May Viernes together with Marabel Lagran and Natalie Viernes of Gandang Kalikasan, Inc., Human Heart Nature’s line of all natural and environment friendly beauty products were introduced in the afternoon with all men in the room. Well, who knows that there is a relation between men and makeup?

The Drill: The afternoon started with Sec Bob Hecks calling the meeting to order in behalf of President Mac, followed by Invocation and the National Anthem by Rtn. Rod Gothe and Treas. Robert Syjuco. It was then followed by reminders from PP Vic Austria about the GK houses turn-over on June 11 in Tanay, Rizal where two clusters (8 houses) will be awarded to the recipients.

As the housing program continues, PP Vic announced that another cluster will be awarded early next Rotary year. In addition to this year’s line of events, Treas. Robert, this meeting’s moderator, has asked confirmation on who are joining the roster of attendees for the installation of our sister club in Singapore on August 13 which turned a number of hands.

As for the President’s time, Bob Hecks handed over club bannerettes to acknowledge our visiting Rotarians PP/AG Derek Pyrah and IPP Daniel Poley from RC CDO and RC Central Mactan respectively. Sec. Bob also shared how fruitful the week with the Aetas from Botolan was where RCMN has started a project 10 years ago. Given a decade, we could say that Makati North made a huge difference to our Aetas brothers and sisters.

Now, going back to the relation between men and make-up, particularly Rotarians and Human Heart Nature – The latter, just like Rotary focuses on providing success to the Philippines through sustainable community projects and quality natural products for all Filipinos. Human heart nature was founded by Tony Meloto’s daughter, Ana. Not only are they producing organic beauty goods but also they are working together with Gawad Kalinga, where they employ GK residents on the production in their organic farm in Bulacan GK community, which also serves as a source of livelihood to these families.

As it was a very interesting afternoon, RCMN started supporting human nature by purchasing some natural products that could help not only their skin and the environment but most importantly the families living in GK sites.
