Last Wednesday’s club meeting was held at Zuni Restaurant. After Pres Mac called the meeting to order, he also led our invocation and Philippine National Anthem. Seeing that there were no visiting Rotarians or guests, we moved quickly into committee announcements after lunch. Although there was a light turnout in terms of attendance, many important issues were tackled since there was also no guest speaker for the day.
IPP Vic was first up to discuss the LEAP Program. He mentioned how partners of LEAP were requesting sponsors and that the venue being considered currently is Taguig City University. During President’s time, Pres Mac informed us that eye testing project would begin at F Benitez. Also, there was some great news for our Feeding Program. RC HK Island East has already committed $1,100 to RCMN and we’re still expecting more to come from our sister clubs in Las Vegas and RC Raffles City. Pres Mac also commended Dir Archie for a job well done at last Saturday’s Reading Program in Brgy. Singkamas
Pres Mac reminded us of the upcoming dinner at the New World Hotel on November 23 to honor the new Paul Harris fellows. In addition, he would like to organize an art competition with prizes for elementary and high school students. PP Roger mentioned the success of RCMN’s past art competitions, even allowing the winners to be sent to France to apprentice under a master artist.
Finally, and perhaps most important, fund raising activities were discussed. All members are in agreement that RCMN must raise funds soon. Golf, cabarets, auctioning of prizes, raffling of dinner with celebrities, getting sponsorship from big corporations, and recruiting new members are just some of the ways RCMN will be able to raise much needed funds to continue our commitments and programs.
