RCMN Updates and Security Matters

President’s Time last week gave a brief report on the recent activities of RCMN, the most notable of which is the anti-dengue drive (spraying) that the club sponsored at the public schools of Barangay Singkamas and East Rembo; and also the donation we made to help provide uniforms for the Boy Scouts of F. Benitez School, alongside the efforts of Mayor Jun-Jun Binay.

President Karl also came up with an interesting proposal to revive an arts exhibit project for the artistically-inclined students of Makati’s public schools. He explained that such an activity would give them a push in the right direction, and sought the help of The Manila Times in organizing the project through PP Klink. He added that he will start talking to gallery owners in order to secure a venue.

More importantly, he informed the group that the drinking/fellowship night will resume this week, the details of which are yet to be announced. He took note of suggestions to hold the get-together on a different night from the weekly RCMN meeting.

He then went on to introduce the meeting’s guest speaker, his good friend for many years, security expert Derek Arnold Ramsay, general manager of Guard All Electronic Systems, Inc.

Truly an interesting subject and speaker, Mr. Ramsay entertained his audience with his colorful life story as a young English policeman, who was assigned to oversee London’s Filipino population sometime in the 1970s. It was during this assignment that he met his Filipina wife, and immigrated to the Philippines by the 1980s.

After working as security consultant to a multi-national fire and security company, he went on to put up his own company, which is now officially listed as one of the top 5,000 companies in the country.

Today, Guard-All provides security and alarm systems to a wide range of clients, and operates a central station to monitor fire, security and panic alarm for embassies, diplomatic residences, banks, industrial and commercial establishments, and private homes.

Apart from Mr. Ramsay, RCMN also welcomed two other guests, namely Henry Curties, who came with Sec. Bob; and Natala Ramsay, the guest speaker’s daughter.
