What a Great Day!
By Treasurer Ian Alas
This was a great day for the Rotary Club of Makati North. Our meeting was jam packed with Rotarians, Anns and Guests due to the scheduled program. We had representatives from the GK-Ave Maria who presented an overall architectural view of the site where GK-houses will be built, which our President Porong promised that we will help donate and built at least 50 to 100 houses. The site is located in Tanay, Rizal on a 3 hectare lot donated by Tita Dolly Aspillera Arboleda, who was graciously present during this special event. The place will be called the RCMN-GK-Ave Maria site.
We had also another special guest speaker, Mr. Rafael “Raffy” Abella Reloza, the youngest son of PP Peny and Chona Reloza. Mr. Raffy discuss the plight of deaf children or individuals in the Philippines and the need to assist them in there efforts to communicate and be part of society. He said that there is a need to help in providing funds in different programs and projects. These projects include finding out who are the deaf individuals, classrooms for the deaf, educating teachers on how to communicate through sign language. So may I end my short and brief write up with a quote from Mother Theresa “KINDNESS is a language we call all speak. Even the deaf can hear it and the blind can see it.”

KARL STUART McKINNON McLEAN
Born in Gibraltar , August 1, 1955 where my dad ran Shell refinery then moved with my family to Hamburg, then London , followed by Holland where I spent 8 years of my life as my father was on the main board of Shell in London.
I went to a Dutch school which was fabulous as the Dutch are the “freeist” nation in the world. As class prefect I sat on the school board with teachers and parents and my vote had the same power as the teachers.
I played a lot of soccer and earlier cricket.
